Forum Rules.....Please Read!!

Welcome to the BAHRR Home Building Forum!

To help ensure that everyone enjoys their visit there are a few basic rules that we ask you to please follow.

Respect other members

We are all here because the BAHRR is not like other forums. When we walk into the BAHRR, we generally leave our public self at the door; our political / religious / ethnic beliefs, etc. We belly on up and talk about us; our lives, jobs, problems, achievements and family. That’s what we all like and want. We try to consider what we say and who we are saying it to. We want to be able to talk about the things that are important to us, but the moderators also do not want to have a far reaching rule that says we can’t talk specifically about this or that. So to that end, here’s what we’re asking:

Please consider that we don't all share the same opinions. If you think what you are about to post is going to be offensive, even if it’s a strongly held belief, think twice about posting it or about how it is worded.

If you are offended, please take the time to find out why, and whether you need to respond in kind.

In short, rather than censorship on a forum scale, let’s practice some self-censorship so we all get along.

Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. You have the right to disagree with that opinion. You do not have the right to be rude, vulgar, or disrespectful in expressing your opposition when posting or in private messages. Flaming will not be tolerated!

Keep it clean

This site was developed as a family-friendly forum. When posting, please avoid using excessive vulgarity. Many people read the boards while at work or with young eyes present, please self edit your expletives. Posts with excessive foul language will be edited or deleted at the discretion of the moderators/administrators.

Questionable images, jokes, or other threads should be marked in the title. These, however, also are subject to editing or deletion. Pornography is strictly prohibited and these threads will be immediately deleted and the poster will be sent home!

No Spamming

Please do not post the same question across multiple forums. The best way to get the answers you are searching for is to post a clear single question in the appropriate forum and be patient, Replies will come. If you are in a hurry for a particular answer, use the search button or read through replies to similar questions. It may just contain the information that you need.

Have Fun!!

These forums were set up as a place for homeowners and prospective home builders to come together to discuss all aspects of building, decorating and maintenance issues.

The “General Talk” section also is a place to hang out with others who share these interests and just want to discuss whatever may come up. No subject is off-limits here at this time. Some subjects will spark debates, possibly some arguments and these will be allowed as long as everyone conducts themselves in a responsible manner.

Posts that are in poor taste, are of an inflammatory nature, or could lead to inflammatory replies, may be deleted at the discretion of the moderators.

Any questions regarding the rules can be directed to the administrator or one of the moderators.

Addition to Rules 3-2-2007:

1) When registering, you must begin posting within two weeks in order to keep account from being deleted. Be aware, posting as a "guest" cannot be seen in the review section.

2) All accounts having 10 or more posts will be considered dormant and deleted.

3) All accounts have been deleted with less than 10 posts, if member has not posted in the last 4 months.

4) Members may re-register but must post in order to keep account open. Continuous re-registration without posting will not be allowed and Admin action will take place in such cases. Banning will occur.

Thanks for joining. Have fun, post often and stay active! As the board grows you'll be glad you did!

Addition 11-2-2007

Open letter to BAHRR members and potential members;

This letter is to inform you that as of today Nov 1, 2007 Nov 2, 2007 ::) the forum previously know as BAHRR will CONTINUE to be known as BAHRR and that some changes are blowing in with a new wind.

We at BAHRR have always been an inclusive forum, accepting anyone who wishes to participate here, with no questions asked. It has been referred to as “everybody’s forum”. Well folks …… we see where THAT got us. Lately there’s just been too much negative energy floating round these parts and it’s time for that to end. As of today, it’s no longer “everyone’s forum” …… ownership is returning to those that brought BAHRR to life and it will no longer be accessible to those who wish to attempt to suck life from it.

The new owners of BAHRR are those who wish to enjoy it’s freedoms of expression while at the same time agreeing to disagree without disparaging comments. It’s for those who want a place to hang their hats, and enjoy the camaraderie that brought us together in the beginning.

If you have an agenda …. you’re at the wrong forum.

If you wish to participate in arguments, battles of wits, or are just plain hard to get along with ………. you’re at the wrong forum.

If you can’t decide if you fit one of the above categories, then you probably are at the wrong forum.

If your DO know which category you fit in and decide to stay and “play nice til this blows over then return to your original self” ………. think again.

Those who wish to leave may leave. You may go on to other forums and call us “self-righteous”, or “elitist snobs” or “cliquish”. But, HEY ! ! ! that’s OK, we’ve been called that for years anyway. We’re not, but if that’s your opinion ……… so be it. Doesn’t matter to us. If someone wants to join us …….. they are more than welcome …….. they can decide for themselves if we’re elitist, or cliquish. Personally, I’ve found this group of people to be the most inclusive of any forum in which I’ve ever participated ………. and there have been several.

My opinion is that you get out of something what you put into it. Many of us have put hours, weeks, months, and years, into this forum and we have decided that it’s not going down the tubes without a fight. We intend to put the control of the forum back where it belongs …. In the hands of those who have built this place. This includes the original members as well as those who have recently joined. The requirement for BAHRR membership is not based on longevity, or the numbers of posts, your IQ, or your political affiliation ….. it’s based on whether or not you wish to participate here in a civilized manner ….. if you can support other members ….. if it’s possible for you to disagree with someone without alienating them or other forum members.

We don’t have many rules here. It’s pretty much like kindergarten …….. treat others with respect, pick up your own toys, share with others, and don’t speak ill of anyone else. Do this, and you’re one of us. Choose another route and expect to be dis-BAHRRed.

Other changes will be announced as they develop ............ soon as somebody types them up.

Addition 11-3-2007

Steps to be taken when there is a problem:

BAH will send a friendly reminder PM to member who is disregarding the rules.

If problem is not solved and member continues to disregard the rules, a second PM will be sent suggesting the BAHRR is not the right forum for him/her.

If member continues to disregard the rules, member will be banned.

Moderators may be required to consider some problems on a case by case basis and will take necessary action in order to keep peace at the BAHRR and protect BAHRRmates.
